NC ENGINEERING INSTALLS ANOTHER 12 CITIZENS IN 10 DAYS

During the last two weeks of June, NC Engineering of Watford installed 12 new Citizen CNC sliding head automatic lathes worth over £1.6 million to customers in the UK.

The machines, which span the complete capacity range of 16 mm to 32 mm and include Citizen's latest C, L and top of the range 14-axis M-Series machines with the ability to perform with three tools cutting simultaneously, were installed at both subcontract and OEM type customers.

Said Geoff Bryant managing director: "The upsurge in installations in late June reflects the growing confidence in the market and that customers are working very hard to achieve higher productivity and in particular establish or expand 'one-hit' mill/turning operations."

He maintains that because NC Engineering was able to keep its full complement of people over the difficult period of the past three years, it has the ability to provide full support to the installations.

He says: "If you are unable to provide the full package of installation and training as the machines are delivered you are just building problems for the future. This is why so many of our installations are with existing customers - however, it is new users in particular who need that little bit of extra help to gain the best from their investments. This would have put untold pressure on our business had we lost some of our core team skills and knowledge."
